Pinnacles, Here We Come!
October 24, 2011 in News
On Wednesday, Oct. 12th, Mr. Stiles’ 5th grade class took a road trip down south to the Pinnacles National Monument. The class, along with 5 parent chaperones and Mr. Stiles embarked on a few mile hike, up, up and up the Pinnacles trails! It was a warm day, but we had plenty of water. We ventured in with our flashlights in hand into Bear Cave, where once the lights were out, it was DARK! We were almost crawling at some points to get underneath the rocks to get through the cave. The kids had a blast! How exciting it was to hike a few miles and then come around this gigantic rock to see this gorgeous, pristine body of water! We stopped and ate lunch at this amazing site! The hike down was much easier! What a great day we had as a class at the Pinnacles National Monument!

Miss Stewart’s 1st grade class took a field trip to Casa de Fruta’s Pumpkin Junction. Fun was had by both the students and the chaperones. Upon arriving, the students first had an opportunity to pan for gemstones. They received a bag full of sand and were taught how to mine just like in the early days of California. Then it was off for a train ride and a ride on the carousel. The students then had an opportunity to get some energy out by playing and climbing at the playground and finding their way through the “Black Crow Maze.” They were then treated to a short video and learned how pumpkins grow. Spookly the Square Pumpkin video was also a treat for the kids. Then it was finally time to pick out pumpkins! The main purpose of the field trip, right? After everyone successfully chose their perfect pumpkin the kids finally got to settle down to devour their lunches!
