Why CCS?

Art in Action

Art in Action, an innovative visual arts program, fosters the educational development and creativity of children at Crossroads Christian School. This program integrates elements of language arts, math, science and social studies.  Art in Action also accommodates different teaching and learning styles, empowering both teachers and students to embrace art with confidence.  Docents (volunteers) add affordable support to the program, allowing Crossroads to offer a truly comprehensive visual arts education.

Learning Environment

The teachers at Crossroads Christian School are continually striving to create an exciting and challenging environment which inspires each child to become the best expression of his or herself.  Whether it be by integrating technology into the classroom or teaching math using an art lesson, our teachers make it their goal to find the best way to engage each child and encourage that individual student’s personal growth.

Technology

Technology is a large focus for Crossroads Christian School. The Technology Lab is newly remodeled and a brand new curriculum has been introduced.  This year there is a greater focus on the upper grade students with a brand new program, Project Equip, created exclusively by teachers at Crossroads. The technology program helps students learn essential computer skills and how to apply those skills in the real world.

Music

Crossroads Christian School is privileged to have world-renowned music director and teacher, Mr. Mike Rubino, leading our music program.  His international experience brings a truly unique perspective to his music direction and teaching philosophies, as he challenges each child to tap into his or her inner musician.

Athletics

At Crossroads Christian School, our Eagles have the support of the entire school community, no matter what the sport. We want our students to develop a love of group sports where it’s fun to be on a winning team, but it’s even more important to work together towards a shared goal.  Crossroads holds a unique event every spring called the Mini Olympics. School-wide, students seize the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities, often trying out sports that they have never taken part in before.  The beauty of this amazing day is that effort is rewarded, as well as straightforward success.

Project Equip

Learning about skills needed for success in a chosen career from a textbook is helpful.  Learning about those skills from a real world mentor is priceless.  Project Equip “equips” our advancing students with marketable life and leadership skills that are absolutely essential for continued success in high school and beyond. Our middle school students interact with high-level community mentors to learn about a particular field and the skills and tools are critical for entering that career.  They create a plan, integrating their newfound technology skills, knowledge and experience and present that plan to the school community before year’s end.

Operation Christmas Child

For the last 6 years, Crossroads Christian School has proudly participated in Operation Christmas Child (OCC) with Samaritan Purse.  In 2010, over 8 million shoe boxes full of essential and fun items were delivered to children around the globe in time for Christmas.  Filling a box for OCC is one of the many ways our students are encouraged to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to make a difference in their world.

Healthy Environment

The relationship between proper nutrition, physical fitness and learning ability has been well documented over the years.  With the staggering increase in childhood obesity and Type 2 diabetes in mind,  Crossroads Christian School has  partnered with Taste Nutrition, an innovative school lunch service, to provide our students with higher-quality, nutritious lunches.  We  also have an amazing Physical Education teacher on staff.  Mr. Ross Morrill is a dynamic character, motivating his  Pre-K through 8th grade  students to run faster and jump higher than they ever thought they could.
